Cookbook 245 CCD
Camera Project

I wanted to get a CCD Camera and looked into the Meade line. Unfortunately, Meade CCD Imagers have had a real run of bad press and quality control problems, so I looked at the SBIG line.  Then the prices started sinking in.

I had heard about the Cookbook camera and being the adventuresome type, and having a good solid electronics background started pricing out the components.  I then jumped into ordering piecesparts, the metal parts kit from University Optics, the CCD from Marshall and many misc parts from Digikey.  [*OOPS* Digikey was a BIG MISTAKE ! I remembered them as being competitively priced, but times must have changed !  Order from Jameco, they are are less than half, sometimes one fourth the price !!!!!] I had a vast junkbox, so saved a lot on the power supply, and made up for my Digikey losses.

After about three weeks and $400, I had my camera.  The only problem I had
during construction was osc. in the -9.5v power supply.
